This announcement just came to several of our faculty and SDCC graphic design supports a faculty guided workshop to produce posters designed to Get out the Vote. We would like to display all the posters on the SDCC campus as a group and feel it could be a great potential portfolio piece for students. Winner will receive a grand prize of $1000, a paid summer internship and a spot in the exclusive ‘Vote by Design’ e-book published by David Carter
(San Diego, CA) February 2, 2012: Stuffy, traditional and overly predictable; the electoral process is as American as apple pie and getting staler by the minute. That’s why Jacob Tyler Creative Group, a full service brand communications agency, is cooking up something tasty to tempt potential voters with their “Vote by Design” campaign. This spring, they’re asking design students worldwide to create exciting, original VOTE themed posters that will raise awareness about the upcoming 2012 Presidential election and encourage young people to vote.
Over the next few months, winning submissions will be selected through a combination of Jacob Tyler Facebook fans, JT staff and a revered panel of experienced, well-known judges:
David Carter – CEO, Bright Books
Dick Costolo – CEO, Twitter
Dennis Crowley – Founder, Foursquare
Les Kollegian – CEO, Jacob Tyler Creative Group
Jocelyn Luciano – Executive Director, Summit Int. Awards
Kathleen Ritchie – Managing Director, Creativity Awards
Jennifer Van Grove – Writer, VentureBeat
“We’re a creative company, so we’re always looking for a new way to put a spin on the traditional” said Les Kollegian CEO of Jacob Tyler Creative Group. “We created the “Vote by Design” contest to give talented students a platform to exhibit their craft, share their voice and spread awareness about the importance of voting. With all the great campaigns out there getting people hyped up for the election, we wanted to give students a chance to speak for themselves, get recognition and potentially earn some great prizes.”
Need an incentive to enter? The Grand Prize Winner will receive a paid summer internship, $1000 and a two-page spread showcasing their poster and bio in a David Carter E-book dedicated to the “Vote by Design” competition. There will also be cash awarded to the second and third place winners with special recognition for their efforts. The top 100 designs will be immortalized in the published digital book to inspire and motivate future designers and voters. Now accepting submissions, the competition is open worldwide to all college undergraduate and graduate students majoring in art, design, advertising and marketing.
